On the occasion of the Janmashtami Puja on Friday , the West Bengal Comprehensive Area Development Authority (WBCADC), which is under the department of panchayat of the West Bengal government has announced online puja bhog thalis at doorstep in and around the city of Kolkata.
Talking to The Travel and Tourism Times , Soumyajit Das, special secretary of West Bengal Comprehensive Area Development Corporation (WBCADC) said that it is literally Duare Bhog ( puja bhog at doorstep) initiative and the dinner meals at Kolkata and surrounding areas will be served on
19 August and the lunch meals will be served on 20 August.
A special thali of Bhoger khichuri, labra,taal er luchi (3 piece),Taler kheer (100 ml), taal er bora ( 4 piece) and malpua ( 1 piece) will cost Rs.275.
Recently, WBCADC has also served meals on the occasion of the 75 th independence day and raksha bandhan to Kolkata and surrounding areas. While the independence day thalis were priced Rs.500 the online misti platter of raksha bandhan along with rakhis cost Rs.100. In jamai sasthi also online thalis have been a hit.
“ All these items have been procured from our own farms throughout the state run by various self help groups and are one hundred percent organic in nature. The specially trained women members of Self Help Group at Mrittika Bhawan in Salt Lake will cook the dishes,”adds Soumyajit Das.
Orders are taken through dedicated whatsapp numbers of WBCADC. The customers have to book the meals early. It is not possible for everyone to visit the temples and get the puja bhogs , this initiative of WBCADC attracts those people who are unable to get the puja bhogs from temples, but can get their meals at the dorr step through online booking.
The food will be served by its delivery boys in Kolkata , part of Howrah and Bidhan Nagar and New Town. The WBCADC has been earning additionally from these on line thalis besides selling spices and other food items from its own retail outlets in recent times. The online thalis of WBCADC has already become popular in Kolkata in all festive seasons of hindus, muslims and christians.
The new panchayat minister of West Bengal, Pradip Majumdar has welcomed this initiative of the WBCADC.
