Oudh 1590, Kolkata’s most preferred Awadhi dining den completes a decade of its eventful journey. Kolkata’s first and only period dining restaurant, Oudh 1590, founded in the year 2013 has grown manifolds. With 10 outlets in Kolkata, Oudh 1590, the Period Dining Restaurant chain is catering to a large number of patrons across the length and breadth of the city.
Today, on the occasion of the 10 th year anniversary celebrations of Oudh 1590, both the founders, Shiladitya Chaudhury and Debaditya Chaudhury recalled their journey & shared anecdotes pertaining to the brand as well as shared their future plans. The new logo of Oudh 1590 was unveiled and a huge cake was cut.
When the first Oudh 1590 opened at Deshapriya Park in South Kolkata, it aimed to provide a one- of-its-kind dining experience to its guests. When you walked in, you were transported to 16 th century Awadh, an era unparalleled with a top-notch service, offering the ‘Pehle Aap’ culture for the first time in Kolkata. The cuisine, the décor, the Thumri and Ghazals that set the mood pristine, even the crockery-cutleries were thoughtfully amalgamated to enliven your dining experience and make it memorable.
“We both being foodies at the core of our hearts, we thought of presenting the gourmands of the city something supreme and royally tasteful. Our extensive research made us travel numerous times to Lucknow, the city of the Nawabs. And thus, was born Oudh 1590, out of sheer passion. We made Awadhi Handi Biryani, Raan Biryani, Nehari Khas, Galawati Kababs and many more a household name which the patrons have been cherishing ever since. Ten years feel like just yesterday as we had opened our first 40-seater outlet in Deshapriya Park back in 2013. From roping in Khansamas from Lucknow to curate special menus and train our chefs to maintain the best way of ‘Mehman Nawazi’ with stringent protocols in place, we feel Oudh 1590 emerged as a humble tribute to exhilarate the Period Dining experience and we will continue to do so. We have a huge pan India expansion plan in place for the next three years covering all the major metro cities. Starting with Delhi we plan to go Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Pune in years to come.,” said Shiladitya Chaudhury and Debaditya Chaudhury, Co-Founders, Oudh 1590.
In a short span of time, Oudh 1590 was a talking point and had spruced its way into many hearts. This encouraged the brothers to create new dining destinations across the city, catering North to South and East to West, so more discerning diners could experience the flavours and ambience of Awadh. Recent additions included opening of restaurants in Behala and Rajarhat. As a first step towards their ambitious national expansion plans, Oudh 1590 has opened its first outlet in Delhi NCR in November, 2022. The brand also has the proud privilege of catering to club members of the iconic Tollygunge Club in Kolkata.

A research on the culture and cuisine of Awadh (modern day Lucknow) is a gift to Kolkata – the city of Gourmet a first of its kind PERIOD DINING experience. Bawarchis working extensively at TUNDE WALI GALLI at Lucknow have been roped in for this initiative. As Oudh 1590 embarks into their national expansion, the first Flagship Outlet has come up at Sec – 18, Noida.
In coming three years, the brand will have its presence felt in all major metro cities namely – Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad & Pune. Last but not the least, the bronze plated crockery and cutlery has been tailor made for the eatery hoping that the cuisine of Oudh within the ambience of OUDH 1590 will be able to rekindle the romance of Shaam – E – Awadh.
