Kolkata’s Kitchen, which is barely seven days old is already a talk of the city. Located at Chattagulli, Tiretti Bazar in Central Kolkata, the newly inauguarted eatery set up jointly by Harjit Singh Dangal and Barno Barman has already marked its presence with mouth watering continental dishes at affordable prices.
The restaurant, is located beside the head office of Pou Chong Food Produicts ( P) Limited has been inauguarted on 24 May.
Both the owners are very popular faces in the heritage motorcycle lovers in the city of Kolkata since long time. Recently they have decided to venture into the eatery business.
Kolkata’s Kitchen remians open six days in a week, and remains closed on Sundays.
Everyday the eatery opens at 12 Noon and closes at 9 PM.
What is the mantra behind the success of the eatery at a very short time ?
“ Our menu is verry short and crisp and this has attracted our customers and that’s why we are getting repeat customers,”says 65 year old Mr. Harjit Singh Dangal, co-owner of Kolkata’s Kitchen.
Talking to the The Travel and Tourism Times another cowner, 25 year old Barno Barman said that the secret is that they are not compromising with the quality and the taste of the foods and people are liking the foods and visiting next time also. “The main attraction of Kolkata’s Kitchen is our quality, our pricing and the authenticity of the taste of our food. Thalis are doing very well and even the chinese people are liking the snacks served at the eatery like chicken cutlet, duck egg devil , mutton cutlet, fish fry etc,”he said.
“ Our next plan is to increase the footfall of Kolkata’s Kitchen and we will expand and go through franchise model at different parts of the city. Come, taste and iwtness the vanishing flavours of the city of Joy at Kolkata’s Kitchen,”adds Barno Barman.
At Kolkata’s Kitchen 4 thalis are kept in the menu card , where the eatery is serving one portion of pulao , ( veg, egg, fist and chicken ) and few more quick to serve and quick to eat options like authentic Bengali vanishing snacks like fish kabiraji, duck egg devil, chana koraisuti cutlet, fish Batter fry ,mutton cutlet, fish chop etc etc in the snacks category and rolls , momo , Maggie , stew , sandwich and soups.
“ Kolkata’s Kitchen has kept the pricing very friendly without compromising a penny on the quality and taste and hygiene and that has been their USP,”says Ms. Janice Lee, neighbour and owner of Pou Chong Food Products ( P) Limited.
Mr. Barno Barman has done his studies from GNIHM on a 4 year course called as Bachelor degree in hotel management and catering technology and i was a drop out by choice.
“ We have a food truck on early 2000 which was very famous in our locality ( North kolkata ) got shut off due to labour problem and since then I had a quest of doing something similar and finally everything started falling into places from 2022 mid with my another business partner Harjit Singh Dhanjal 65 and finally we opened the shop on 24.5.23,”says Mr. Barno Barman.
Orders can also be placed for takeaway, upto 1 kilometres the charges are nil. Walls of the eatery are also very beautifully decorated with sketches of the iconic things of Kolkata like hand pulled rickshaw, rosogolla, phoochka etc.
