The Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida has announced that from 7 September the Covid RT– PCR tests for vaccinated inbound travellers has been withdrawn.
Already a number of countries have opened their borders and have withdrawn the strict covid -19 protocols.
The present arrival cap is 20,000 at the airports and within a month the arrival cap will be raised to about 50,000 as airports gear up to improve their infrastructure and workforces.
Inbound travellers who have taken the doses of approved coronavirus vaccines will be exempted from the mandatory pre arrival RT- PCR tests.
Travel Agencies and various chambers of commerce have urged the government in recent times to withdraw the strict protocols of covid safety measures as Japan had one of the most strict border measures amongst the group of 7 wealthy nations.
The Japanese Government has directed hospitals and clinics to report the number of new COVID-19 cases to public health centers as Japan is committed to making up to 50,000 beds available for COVID-19 patients nationwide.
At present most of the fresh covid -19 cases in Japan are registered from Hokkaido followed by Tokyo and Osaka.
