“Religious tourism development will boost pilgrim and tourist footfall” – Jaiveer Singh

Under the Chief Minister’s Tourism Development Scheme, the Government of Uttar Pradesh has sanctioned tourism infrastructure projects in every division of the state for the financial year 2025–26. With an estimated total outlay of Rs. 359.85 crore, the initiative aims to enhance religious and cultural destinations, strengthen regional connectivity, and improve amenities for tourists. For effective implementation, technical teams from the department will undertake site inspections, soil testing, and preparation of Detailed Project Reports in each district.
As part of this initiative, 28 tourism development projects have been approved for the Agra division, covering the districts of Agra and Firozabad. Announcing the decision, Uttar Pradesh Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh stated that the approved projects will play a key role in enhancing spiritual tourism and boosting pilgrim footfall across the region.
In Agra district, key sites identified for development include the Kaila Mata Temple in Etora with an allocation of Rs. 1 crore, Sheetla Kund Dham Temple in Akola with Rs. 1 crore, Sati Mata Temple in Fatehabad with Rs. 1 crore, and Prithvinath Mahadev Temple in Shahganj with Rs. 2 crore. Additional projects include Baba Deendayal Dham in Kheragarh with Rs. 1 crore, ancient Nath sect temples in Mau with Rs. 1 crore, renovation of the old tourism office building in Agra Cantonment with Rs. 1.5 crore, and development at Guru Ka Taal Gurudwara in Agra North with Rs. 2 crore.
In Firozabad district, the focus is on major temples and heritage landmarks. Projects include development of Goga Ji Kali Temple in Tundla with Rs. 1 crore, Paseene Wale Hanuman Ji Mandir in Firozabad city with Rs. 1 crore, and temples dedicated to Brahmadev, Shivji, and Bajrangbali in Shikohabad with Rs. 2 crore. Further initiatives include enhancement of Awaganga Temple in Shikohabad with Rs. 50 lakh, Narkhi Shiv Temple in Tundla with Rs. 1 crore, and Radha Krishna and Shiv Temples in Tundla with Rs. 1.5 crore. In Sirsaganj, religious sites like the Hanuman Temple and Jaymai Mata Temple have received Rs. 2 crore each, while Ram Krishna Dham has been sanctioned Rs. 1 crore.
Additional projects in Sirsaganj include beautification of Ambedkar Park with Rs. 1 crore, development of Ved Upvan Park with Rs. 1 crore, and enhancement of Radha Krishna Temple with Rs. 1.25 crore. Development at the birthplace of Neem Karoli Baba has also been approved with an allocation of Rs. 1 crore. Support for cultural institutions includes Rs. 50 lakh each for Arya Gurukul Mahavidyalaya and the famous Glass Museum of Firozabad, reflecting the district’s rich legacy as a center of India’s glass industry.
Minister Jaiveer Singh reaffirmed the government’s commitment to delivering world-class experiences for tourists while preserving the spiritual and cultural significance of these sacred sites. He emphasized that the focused development of these locations will not only strengthen religious tourism in the region but also uplift local economies and place Uttar Pradesh prominently on the global tourism map.
