The Federation of Associations in Indian Tourism & Hospitality (FAITH) held the FAITH Conclave 2026 in New Delhi, bringing together policymakers, global tourism leaders, industry stakeholders and experts to chart a roadmap for accelerating India’s tourism economy.
The conclave addressed key issues It highlighted tourism as one of India’s strongest economic multipliers, with industry leaders stating that while the sector officially contributes 6.7% to the country’s GDP, its actual impact is significantly higher, thanks to the fact that it also supports several industries indirectly.
FAITH declared that the sector has the potential to contribute 10% of India’s projected USD 30 trillion economy by 2047, while every ₹1 invested in tourism generates more than ₹3 in economic value.
A key outcome of the conclave was FAITH’s renewed call for industry and infrastructure status for tourism, to improve access to financing and accelerate investment. The federation also announced that its previous White Paper has already been shared with the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Tourism and NITI Aayog, and that an updated Tourism Growth Charter incorporating recommendations from FAITH Conclave 2026 will be submitted to the government.
Addressing the conclave, Union Minister for Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, described tourism as a nation-building sector that creates employment, empowers communities and supports the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
The need was felt for a sustained ‘Brand Bharat’ campaign to strengthen India’s position as a preferred international destination and boost inbound tourism.
The conclave also focused on strengthening tourism infrastructure through improved air connectivity, destination development, greater availability of mid-market hotels, enhanced visitor experiences, responsible tourism practices, skill development and adventure tourism safety.
Also highlighted, was the growing importance of border tourism, sustainability and community-led tourism as key drivers of inclusive economic growth.
The conclave featured addresses by Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, former WTTC President and CEO Gloria Guevara Manzo, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, diplomat Taranjit Singh Sandhu, actors Boman Irani and Anupam Kher and senior leaders from India’s tourism and hospitality industry. Voiced, was a shared commitment to make tourism a greater player in India’s economic and social development.
The attendance was good, the mood positive and the national tourism vision was further boosted.
