BURNPUR, 10 DECEMBER 2022

Burnpur Riverside School, Burnpur, 10 December, 2022: The 2 nd PTM for classes Pre Nursery to IX and XI and 3 rd Open Day for Std. X emerged as a happy and pleasant surprise for parents and students as the school celebrated Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav in consonance with the CBSE directives.

The Utsav was celebrated as part of the Bhasha Sangam and Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat initiatives.

The prime objectives of the Utsav, in words of the CBSE circular, are “to acquaint the students and youth about the inherent oneness of all Bharatiya Bhashas i.e the concept of ‘Bharatiya Bhasha Parivar’ and to celebrate the rich variety and wonders of Bharatiya Bhashas”

Several activities were undertaken as part of the celebrations. Parents and students, the teachers and the

staff of the school came dressed in ‘Bharatiya Paridhan’ like dhoti, kurta, various shades of saree showing the rich cultural heritage and history of our country.

Adequately sized boards, as part of ‘My Language, My Signature’ Campaign, were erected at popular points of the school campus for all school stakeholders to put their signatures in their own Indian languages.

The best part of the Utsav was, however, the setting up of food corners having cuisines representing the diverse Indian regions along with their name posters. The several food items available in the stalls included dishes of great variety as Makki ki Roti, Sarson ki Sag and Lassi from the West of India; Idli, Sambar and Dosa from the South; Pav Bhaji, Dhokla and Chaat from the West and Jhal Muri, Alu Chop and Beguni; and Litti and Chokha from the Eastern states.

The day, too, witnessed the Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccination campaign in the school for children in the age group of less than 15 years. The campaign was carried out under the initiative of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of West Bengal and National

Health Mission.

The objective of the campaign lay in “measles elimination and rubella control” and to this effect, it was emphasized that “children in the age group of 9 months to less than 15 years need to be immunized to knock out the diseases”.
