In a bid to boost tourism further Thailand today has announced further extension of VISA waiver to Indian and Taiwanese tourists till 11 th November 20234. This year the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) expects a record footfall and the target is over 40 million of foreign nationals.
The cabinet of Thailand government has approved the VISA waiver plan extension to Indian and Taiwanese tourists for another six months and it is expected to further boost its economy. Prime Minister of Thailand, Mr. Srettha Thavisin has announced the further six months VISa waiver extension after the cabinet meeting. To boost Thailand as a tourism hub to drive the economy and bring prosperity to the country. “The goal is to establish Thailand as a leading destination for tourists from around the world.”
He stated that the government’s target of 3.5 trillion Baht in tourism revenue this year, with an aim to earn much more in the coming years, would be achieved through five strategies.
Talking to The Travel and Tourism Times, Ms. Siriges-a-nong Trirattanasongpol , Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand ( New Delhi) has said that after increasing this Visa waiver plan, the country hopes longer stays from tourists from these two countries and also more frequent visits.
From January to April, in the first four months of this year, a whopping 12 million tourists have visited Thailand already. Which is about a 39 percent increase compared to the previous year.
India is the fifth largest resource market for Thailand Tourism this year after China, Malaysia, Russia and South Korea, according to The Tourism Authority of Thailand.
Thailand has set a goal of over two million tourists from India this year, which will equal its pre pandemic records.
Ms. Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol, Minister of Tourism and Sports of Thailand and Governor of Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Miss Thapanee Kiatphaibool has also visited India this year to boost tourism and interacted with media and travel agents of the country in New Delhi.
Ms. Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol, has said that Thailand wishes to become a global aviation hub by handling over 150 million air travelers by 2030.
According to a World Travel and Tourism Council report, tourism contributes to 17 percent of Thailand’s national GDP , while the contribution of tourism in the global GDP is merely 10 percent.
Tourists can explore new picturesque coastal destinations like Pattaya, Huahin, Phuket, Koh Rong, Krabi, Taitenian, Kanchana Buri, Sukhotai etc for alluring marriage parties besides capital Bangkok Thailand is a country of many contrasting facets, from pristine beaches to dense forests, ancient monasteries to coral reefs, from Buddhist monks to floating markets, sky bar and restaurant, and finally the fragrant and delicious array of foods and beverages for
the connoisseurs of Thai food. For the shopaholics the biggest mall is also coming up in the capital city of Bangkok very soon this year.
All the travel agents associations of India have welcomed this latest move of the Thai government.
