BREAKING NEWS : CENTRE’S ADVISORY TO 250 INDIANS STAYING IN NIGER, LEAVE SOON

KOLKATA, 11 AUGUST 2023:

The union ministry of external affairs has issued an advisory to the Indians staying in violence hit Niger to leave the country as soon as possible.

War looms as  ECOWAS orders deployment  of soldiers to sack recalcitrant Junta. Niger’s  coup leaders face a deadline to cede power.

According to the MEA sources, presently 250 Indains are stranded in Niger.

“ In light of the prevailing situation , Indian nationals  whose presence is not essential are advsied to leave the African country as soon as possible,”says spokesperson of mInistry of External affairs. Indian national are advsied to register at Niamey in the Indain Embassy,” Arindam Bagchi.

Indains nationals are also advsied to contact the embassy in case of any emergency ( +22799759975).

Already the European countries have started evacuating of their nationals.

On 26 July this year the President Mohamed Bazoum has been overthrown , 62 year old General Abdourahmane Tchiani decalred himself as the Head of National Council for the Safeguard of the Country.

Diori Hamani International Airport is the international airport in Niamey, the capital city of Niger. It is located 9 kilometres from Niamey in the south eastern suburbs of the city, which is  along the Route Nationale 1, the major highway linking Niamey with the east of the nation. The airport complex also includes the major base for the Armed Forces of Niger‘s “Armee d’Air“. There is no direct flight services to India from Niger.
