BREAKING NEWS : NO EFFECT ON TOURISM SO FAR DUE TO NIPAH VIRUS OUTBREAK IN KERALA , SAYS P.A.MOHAMED RIYAS

KOLKATA, 17 SEPTEMBER 2023:

Tourism minister of Kerala, P.A.Mohamed Riyas has claimed that so far there has been no effect on the tourism sector of the state due to Nipah Virus outbreak in Kozhikode district.

So far six persons have tested positive and out of them two persons have died.An isoloation ward has been set up at Kozhikode National Medical College and Hospital.

42 people have tested negative in the last report avaialable to the state government today. These 42 people belonged to the high risk category and came in close contact with the victim.

“ Our state is well prepared to tackle Nipah Virus outbreak and we have also controlled sucessfully in the past and despite the NiV scare in northern Kerala, there is so far no effect in tourism in God’s Own Country,” says Mr. P.A.Mohamed Riyas.

He added that tourism is contuniung safely in the state and the much hyped Champions Boat League (CBL) are taking place as per schedule. “ we are expecting a high inbound season,”he added.

This year the Champions Boat League (CPL) is modelled like  the IPL. CPL began on 16 September and will end on 9 th December. The event is being conducted on 12 different venues across the state.

The condition of the nine year old child is also better and he has been taken out of ventilator, the state health department said.

Smt. Veena George, health minister of Kerala is keeping a constant tab on the state’s Nipah virus update.

The state government has also urged people not to drink date palm saps, fearing spreading of infection from the fruit eating bats.

Malaysia, Singapore, Bangladesh and India have registered Nipah Virus cases in recent years.
