COMMERCIAL FLIGHT OPERATIONS BEGINS FROM NORTH GOA’S MANOHAR INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT IN MOPA, 6E SHARES VIDEO

The commercial flights operations begins today at the newly inaugurated Manohar International Airport in Mopa in North Goa.

 The new international airport at Mopa in North Goa will be a game changer and will give a huge boost to tourism in the state, said Mr. Nilesh Shah, President of Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG).

“ Today is a big day in the history of tourism in Goa and we are really excited as the connectivity will be more from now onwards,” he added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the greenfield Manohar International Airport in Mopa last month. This is the second international airport in Goa.

The first flight by Indigo arrived at Mopa at around 8.30 AM ( half an hour before scheduled time ) today from Hyderabad. About 179 passengers boarded the first flight. A live band show was organised to welcome the passengers of the first flight at the airport.

Total eleven flights have landed on day one at Manohar International Airport. Three from New Delhi, two each from Bengaluru and Hyderabad, one each from Chennai, Pune, Mumbai and Jaipur.

Indigo will operate 12 flight regularly and 168 flights per week, 42 weekly flights by Go First connecting with Mumbai, Hyderabad and bengaluru. Akasa Air, the newest operators will also start flights from Mumbai and Bengaluru.

Oman Airways has also evinced interest.

The Indigo today shared pictures and videos of its first flight from New Delhi to Mopa.

“ Are we all excited? This is exactly what we need on a chilly delhi winter morning. Sunny Goa awaits you,” the pilot addressed the passengers.

 Majority of  the tourism hotspots  are situated in North Goa, and the previous airport, Dabolim International Airpirt is located about 50 kilometres away in South Goa.

“Congratulations to All Goans as a New Chapter opens in Goan Aviation with the First Commercial Flight (Indigo Hyderabad- Goa) landing at #ManoharInternationalAirport, Mopa-Goa. Our Sunshine State now boasts Two International Airports,” tweets Mr. Rohan Khaunte, minister of IT, revenue, labour and employment of Goa.
