ASANSOL, 23 DECEMBER 2023:
India International School, Asansol, celebrated its 12th Annual Sports Meet, 2023, along with Good Governance, Veer Bal Diwas & Christmas Day, on Saturday, amidst a lot of fun and frolic.
The School’s playground was overflowing with zeal, passion and excitement. The programme began with the arrival of the Chief Guest, Mr. Washim Ul Haque, Deputy Mayor, Asansol Municipal Corporation along with Guest of Honour , Mr. Moloy Sarkhel, State Committee Member in Amateur Kabaddi, Paschim Bardhaman, West Bengal in the esteemed presence of Director, Mr. A.K.Sharma, (National Awardee Teacher), Vice-President, Smt. Radha Sharma, School Trust, Principal, Mrs. Sharmistha Chanda Paul and other dignified Guests.
The day started off with the lovely rendition by the choir to pay salutations to the Lord Almighty followed by a motivational song. The Principal, Mrs. Sharmistha Chanda Paul, highlighted in her address that games and sports have become an integral element of present day education. It not only teaches them the qualities of discipline, sportsmanship, team spirit and leadership but also enhances the physical and mental development of children.
Another highlight of the day was lighting of the Torch after which the Oath Taking Ceremony took place where the students solemnly pledged to uphold the spirit of true sportsmanship & the Annual Sports Meet was declared open followed by the unveiling of the Mascot.
The students displayed a wide array of energetic and bouncy sports events ranging from the Band display, March Past, Calisthenics, Dumb Bell display & track events. They mesmerized the audience with their energetic performances. The proud parents could be seen filled with happiness to see their child performing.
The Director of the School, Mr. A.K.Sharma, reminded of the importance of sports in promoting a healthy lifestyle, discipline, and national pride, weaving the tapestry of a healthier, more united, and more vibrant nation.
The teachers also got an opportunity to prove their physical fitness by participating in races. They proved that age is no bar for running and winning on the tracks. In the end, the winners were awarded medals and certificates. The School thanked the parents and the students for making the program a great success.
The school playground rimmed with flags reverberating with the sound of cheers made everyone’s day which thus ended with a cheerful note and singing of the National Anthem.
