In the presence of Chief Minister Mr. Samrat Choudhary, an agreement was signed today at the ‘Sankalp’ Hall located at the Lok Sevak Awas between the lessee and Welcomhotel (ITC Group) for the operation of Hotel Ajatshatru, located in Rajgir and owned by the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation Limited (BSTDC). This agreement is an important step towards the development of world-class tourism infrastructure in Bihar and providing high-quality hospitality services to tourists.

On this occasion, ITC Group Managing Director Mr. Anil Chadha and Kalshi Buildcon Director Mr. Sumeet Singh Kalshi signed and exchanged the MOU in the presence of the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister said that the Bihar Government is continuously working for the overall development of the tourism sector in the state. Better tourist facilities have been developed at Rajgir, Nalanda, Bodh Gaya, and other historical and religious destinations. The participation of reputed hospitality groups will give Bihar’s tourism sector a new identity and provide better facilities to tourists coming from India and abroad. He expressed confidence that the operation of Hotel Ajatshatru as Welcomhotel (ITC Group) will further strengthen Rajgir’s identity on the international tourism map while also creating new employment opportunities and boosting economic activities at the local level.

During the programme, Tourism Department Secretary Mr. Lokesh Kumar Singh welcomed the Chief Minister by presenting him with a green plant.

A presentation was also made on the operation of Hotel Ajatshatru Vihar, Rajgir under Welcomhotel (ITC Group). During the presentation, it was informed that Hotel Ajatshatru in Rajgir will be operated under the Welcomhotel by ITC brand. Spread across approximately 2.67 acres, the hotel complex will feature 104 modern rooms, a large banquet hall, and hospitality facilities developed in accordance with international standards. The project has been targeted for completion and commencement of operations by 1 March 2027.

The programme was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Tourism Minister Mr. Kedar Prasad Gupta, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Deepak Kumar, Chief Secretary Mr. Pratyaya Amrit, Development Commissioner Mr. Mihir Kumar Singh, Secretary to the Chief Minister and Tourism Department Secretary Mr. Lokesh Kumar Singh, Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Tourism Department Director Mr. Udayan Mishra, Managing Director of Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation Limited Mr. Nand Kishore, ITC Group Managing Director Mr. Anil Chadha, Kalshi Buildcon Director Mr. Sumeet Singh Kalshi, and other senior officials.
