The Future Zone at Kanakakkunnu Palace ground, a novel concept of Tourism Department’s Onam Tourism Week celebrations, showcases some of the most innovative tech ideas and AI-powered Onam-themed games developed by homegrown talents. Conceived as a launching pad for children and adults alike to explore the possibilities and scope of AI, robotics, and other technological innovations, the Future Zone features stalls showcasing drone technology, AI-powered interactive games, and futuristic app ideas. An app where you can sell your soft skills and build on your passion and profile, the stall by the Bustler app team is gaining attention at the Future Zone. Founded by Sajid Saji and his friends, Bustler is a platform where users can sell their skills and passions and build their portfolios.

“We have doctors who are passionate about photography registered on our app. So people can hire them for photography work based on the portfolio on our app,” says Sajid Saji. “There are users who have mentioned their skill as a good listener; people can hire a listener. These are the kind of skills that are getting paid and valued in countries like Japan, and Bustler is trying to give value to your unique skills which otherwise go unpaid and unnoticed,” he added. “Around 1000 users have already registered in our app,” says Sajid. “They are skilled mehendi designers, logo designers, bakers, teachers, musicians, etc.” There’s a strict AI-powered monitoring system to ensure the credibility and safety of registered users, he added.

The Onam-themed games by AJU ED solutions and One Vibe are attracting children and adults alike at the Future Zone. A technology-based education and development company, AJU ED solutions, has developed robotic and AI-powered games based on Onam themes exclusively for the Onam Celebrations at Kanakakkunnu. Visitors can play the Vamanan vs Maveli robotic football using a remote control and also wake up a sleeping digital Maveli by screaming into a microphone, at the Aju ED Solutions stall.

“People visit the Onam celebrations to have fun and to be entertained, so we have developed Onam-themed games using futuristic technology so people can have fun and also get to know the latest developments and scope of technologies like AI and robotics, says Aju JS, founder of AJU ED Solutions. One Vibe, a startup, has also designed Onam-themed games at the Future Zone, similar to arcade games. A digital snake-boat race and sack race are on display at the stall of One Vibe, where the public can come and play for free and understand the new technological advancements made in the gaming industry.

Chuvarbot, a robot developed to paint graffiti on walls, is another highlight of the Future Zone. Developed by Tevanova Techtrade, Chuvarbot automates the labour-intensive process of wall writing during election season with precision, speed, and uniformity. The stall of Dronimagination Pvt Limited, an integrated platform for drone and geospatial intelligence solutions, is also part of Future Zone. Dronimagination’s services have been integral for rescue missions during the Wayanad landslide in 2024, the Malampuzha rescue mission of Babu and more.

The stall of Dronimagination provides insight into their drone services, the technology behind them, and career options in drone and GIS services. Chief Minister Shri VD Satheesan inaugurated the state-level Onam celebrations at Nishagandhi here on Monday. The week-long celebrations will showcase the rhythm and elegance of Kerala’s classical, folk, and ethnic art traditions before a larger audience, including tourists, till August 30.
