On the 111th foundation day of Maheshwari Library, paying tribute to the founders, a huge kavi sammelan of their mother tongue Rajasthani language was organized in the local Kalamandir auditorium in Kolkata today .
Speaking as the chief speaker in this program organized for mother tongue, enlightened thinker Sitaram Sharma highlighted the importance of mother tongue. Chief guest Vikas Madhogadia praised the event and said that such events express respect towards mother tongue.
President of Maheshwari Sabha Bulakidas Mimmani gave information about the activities of the Sabha and its branches. President of the function, poetess Shakuntala Karnani (Chennai) talked about the connection of “nij bhasha” with one’s culture and identity and told the need to connect the young generation with mother tongue.
Earlier, Vanbandhu social worker Shanta Sarda inaugurated the function by offering shatdal on the picture of Saraswati. Library Chairman, Vishwanath Chandak welcomed the visitors and Vice Chairman, Radheshyam Jhanwar expressed his gratitude.
Under the Shatdal Arpan program series of the library, as a public awareness campaign to get constitutional recognition for the Rajasthani language, while giving information about the programs titled Maaydabhasa Het, he said that the kavi sammelan has been organized to pay homage to the founders of the library.
Underlining this occasion, Ladesar Ratan Shah, who is fighting for the constitutional recognition of the Rajasthani language, was honored with the “Maaydabhasa Het Samman”.
Hinglaj Dan Ratnoo, in-charge of Rajasthan Information Centre Kolkata and Assistant Director of Information and Public Relations Department, Government of Rajasthan, threw light on the importance of Mayadbhasa Rajasthani language-culture and Kavi Sammelan.
Poets who came on this occasion were honoured in the memory of poets associated with the library. National President of All India Marwari Conference, Shivkumar Lohia presented Mahakavi Ambu Sharma Smriti Nainsi Samman to poet Kalyan Singh Shekhawat. Rajasthani columnist and poet Bansidhar Sharma presented Bhagwati Prasad Chaudhary Smriti Tulsi-Channa Samman to poet Kailash Mandela. Poetess Pushpa Soni (Guwahati) presented Joshi Nirbhik Smriti Gavaral Samman to poet Monica Gaur. General Secretary of Rajasthan Council Arun Mallavat presented Gopalkrishna Tiwari Smriti Mayadbhaum Samman to poet Kailashdan Kaviya. Maheshwari Sabha’s Deputy Minister Ashok Chandak presented Champalal Mohta “Anokha” Smriti Rajvan Samman to poet Shankar Singh Rajpurohit.
Each poet was given twenty five thousand rupees as honorarium. Ashok Laddha, Rajkumar Daga, Sangeetalaya Minister Mahesh Dammani, Jayant Daga, Mukesh Binnani, Panchanan Bhattad, Kishore Dammani, Devendra Bagdi, Aditya Binnani etc. were active in making the program successful. Parcham’s founder Mukund Rathi, Sabha Minister Purushottam Das Mundhra, Seva Samiti Minister Arun Soni, Samaj Utthan Samiti Minister Manmohan Rathi along with officials of many organizations and dignitaries of the city were present on this occasion
