Thailand on a plate, crafted by the Thai masters. The Royal Thai Consulate General in Kolkata, in collaboration with the International Institute of Hotel management (IIHM) has organized a Thai Culture and culinary artistry and lasting friendships mega event at Salt lake campus tomorrow.
Smt. SiripornTantipanyathep, consul general of Royal Thai Consulate General of Thailand will be the chief guest. Dr. Subarno Bose, Chairman of International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM), Salt Lake and celebrated author will also be present along with other dignitaries.
Embark on an exquisite culinary journey thoughtfully curated by Chef Som and Chef Samrong: Savour the exotic flavours of Thailand, where every dish will tell a story of tradition and passion curated by the two master chefs Som and Samrong.
Chef Som, a graduate of Visva-Bharati University,renowned for her heartfelt philosophy of
“cooking by heart,” Chef Som crafts dishes that blend flavour, emotion, and artistry into a soulful dining experience. “There are many ways to approach food. I choose to focus on how guests interact with it—quietly, thoughtfully, in their own space. I hope there is enough freedom within ourselves
to think and to feel.”
Chef Samrong, personal chef to Thai Ambassadors and Consul-Generals across several countries, brings with her a rich heritage of authentic Thai flavours. Her warm, home-style creations reflect
the essence of comfort, tradition, and soulful Thai hospitality.

17.15 hrs. –Exclusive Thai High Tea Reception
For Chef Som, ‘Cooking is arts’. With a background in fine arts and worldly experience throughout all parts of the ancient and modern world, cooking by heart and from the heart is what Chef Som embodies in her cooking and is what she would like to share with her guests. It’s old fashioned cooking presented in an approachable way, its purpose is to bring a pure and simple joy of food and sharing it with others.
