There has been an almost 50 percent growth of Indian Tourists in Ras Al Khaimah in the first six months of this year and India has already emerged as one of the top five resource markets for tourism in the destination of UAE, which is barely 45 kilometres from Dubai.
Boosted by the figures, One Rep Global, the DSA of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority has in fact opened its maiden office in the eastern part of the country at Park Street in the City of Joy, informs Hemant Mediratta, owner of the One Rep Global.
The Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI), eastern India chapter has organised its AGM at Hotel Kenilworth in Kolkata in association with Ras Al Khaimah and One Rep Global.
“ Ras Al Khaimah has a rich history which is dated back to 7000 years around the bronze ages. It has over 100 heritage sites including 4 UNESCO World Heritage sites, eclectic cultures etc which the travellers from the cultural capital of India are fond of . It has the highest mountain peak in UAE, all resorts are ocean facing, and off course the Hazari mountains,” added Mr. Hemant Mediratta.
Sand duning, sand bashing, camel ride, worlds longest zipline, cheaper gold rate than Dubai, mountain biking, para gliding, pearl diving, water sports, restaurant 1484 by Puro at the mountain peak with vegan foods and Indian dishes too, marriage destinations etc are the star attractions.
All the top hotels and resorts of the world are located in Ras Al Khaimah. Recently Ras Al Khaimah along with One Rep Global has conducted a successful Road Show in Kolkata.
At present 7.65% of the total population of India holds passports, which ammounts to 10 crores and it is estimated that in 2024-25 about 5 crores Indians will fly abroad and all the major foreign tourism boards and countries are making a beeline to make India their to resource market and grab this opportunity.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Anil Punjabi, Chairman ( east) of Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) said that Ras Al Khaimah is a virgin destination and hotels and resorts are about 40 percent cheaper compared to Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the currency is not so strong and can emerge as a strong MICE, wedding, family and kids destination in the days to come.
“ RAK can be easily saleable along with Dubai, Abu Dhabi and even neibouring country Oman’s Muscat. Travel agents have to club it with Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Muscat etc like Singapore, Bangkok and Kulalumpur,”Mr. Anil Punjabi added.
Mr. Sabyasachi Dey, newly appointed Sales Manager of One Rep in Kolkata said that the connectivity is good and from Kolkata passengers can baord the flights to RAK directly from Hyderabad and Mumbai of Indigo Airlines.
A audio visial presentation of Ras Al Khaimah was also shown to the stakeholders of the tourism industry here.
Air Arabia, Emirates and Etihad Airways also has direct flights from Kolkata to UAE’s Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
“ In the Pearl farm, tourists can see the 500 year old paerl farming in Emirates. The Pearls of Emirates are world famous,”he said.
Mr. Bilolaksha Das, of , TAFI secretary, other members of Tafi, Prasenjit Basu of Air Arabia, Shamaila Sabir of Sri Lankan Airlines, Samir Bhowmick , Sales manager Thai Smile, etc were present.
Miss Natalia Pote, Fitness and wellness expert also spoke on the occasssion citing the importance and giving tips for remaining healthy for each and every travellers especially in the post pandemic world.
Recently a student group from Kolkata has visited ras Al Khaimah. The peak season starts from October and from April to September is the low tourist season.
