Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, Bhubaneswar Office successfully organized a Dekho Apna Desh Education Tour to the Odisha State Tribal Museum, Bhubaneswar on 16th December 2025 for tourism stakeholders.
The programme was conducted with the objective of promoting domestic tourism, creating awareness about India’s rich tribal heritage, and enhancing the knowledge of tourism stakeholders regarding Odisha’s unique cultural diversity.
During the visit, participants were introduced to the history, lifestyle, traditions, art, culture, and indigenous knowledge systems of Odisha’s tribal communities. The museum’s galleries showcasing tribal handicrafts, traditional costumes, musical instruments, tools, paintings, and life-size models of tribal dwellings provided an immersive learning experience. Special emphasis was laid on the role of tribal culture in enriching Odisha’s tourism potential.
Officials from the Ministry of Tourism highlighted the importance of the Dekho Apna Desh initiative in encouraging citizens to explore and appreciate lesser-known destinations within the country. The education tour helped stakeholders understand how tribal heritage can be responsibly promoted as a tourism product while ensuring cultural sensitivity and sustainable tourism practices.
