GO FIRST AIR CANCELS FLIGHTS ON 3 & 4 MAY, FILES FOR BANKRUPTCY AT NCLT, SCINDIA SAYS VERY UNFORTUNATE & GOI IS HELPING THE AIRLINE

KOLKATA, 2 MAY 2023:

The indian aviation industry which has been flying very high in recent times has been shaken today after low cost carrier cancells flights on 3 and 4 May and has also filed for bankrupty at National Company Law Tribunal.

Inndia’s civil aviation minister, Jyotiraditya Scindia termed the incident as unfortunate and said that the government of India has been helping the company by all possible ways.

“ There has been critical supply chain issues  with regards to their engines. The ministry is helping the airline in every possible manner to overcome the crisis. And the issue has been taken up with the stakeholders,”Mr. Jyotiraditya  Scindia said.

 

“It is very unfortunate that operational bottleneck has dealth such a big blow to the airlines financial condition. The company has moved to NCLT. Let the judicial process take its own course,”he added.

Talking to the www.thetravelandtourismtimes.com, Mr. Anil Punjabi, Chairman ( East) of Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) said that it is a huge setback for the avitaion and the travel and tourism industry.

“ We are really worried that the airlines have already cancelled its flights on Wednesday and Thursday and it seems that it will continue to do so in the coming days . There will be huge harrashments for both the  travel agents and the fliers. Alternative arrangements needed to be made or the money has to be refunded. It is a big crisis,” added Mr. Anil Punjabi.

From Netaji Subhas Chandra International Airport in Kolkata two flights used to run in the Kolkata – New Delhi route and in the Kolkata – Port Blair route , both these sectors have been stalled for the next two days.

The Director General of Civil Avaition (DGCA) has also issued notifications to Go First directing to make alternative arrangements for the fliers whose flights have been cancelled already.

The Mumbai based Go First has also stopped flight ticket bookings for the next two days.

Go First is the aviation foray of the Wadia Group. Currently, we have a fleet of 54 aircraft and fly to 28 domestic and 10 international destinations with over 220 daily flights.
