Tourism Secretary Shri Lokesh Kumar Singh on Friday held a review meeting at the Tourism Department office located in the Main Secretariat regarding the preparations for the Shravan Mela, which will be held between 30 July and 28 August, to finalize the arrangements. Senior departmental officials, the CEO of Jeevika, and District Magistrates of Bhagalpur, Munger, and Banka joined the meeting through video conferencing.

Addressing all officials, the Tourism Secretary said that all necessary arrangements for Kanwariyas must be completed in every situation before the stipulated deadline to ensure all required facilities are provided to them. He instructed that high-quality cleanliness and better lighting arrangements be ensured in the mela area. Signage boards containing all important mobile numbers for Kanwariyas should be installed along the entire Kanwariya route. He also directed that sand-laying work on the route must be completed on time, and police patrolling should be ensured for security. Special barricading near Ganga ghats for the safety of Kanwariyas was also instructed.

The Tourism Department will construct tent cities at various locations along the Kanwariya route to provide comfortable accommodation for Kanwariyas during Shravan Mela. These will include facilities such as bathing areas, clean drinking water, toilets, uninterrupted electricity supply, and “Jeevika Didi Ki Rasoi” to provide hygienic and well-prepared food. Facilities such as Kanwar stands, information counters, and entertainment arrangements will also be provided there.

The Secretary directed the Managing Director of Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation to ensure continuous and high-quality cleanliness in the tent cities with proper monitoring. He also instructed the CEO of Jeevika that the department will provide space for “Didi Ki Rasoi,” and it must ensure the availability of clean and well-prepared food. Displaying a food rate chart will be mandatory.

On the opening day in Sultananganj, a drone show and laser show near Baba Ajgaibinath Temple will be a major attraction for devotees. National-level artists will perform during the inauguration and closing ceremonies of Shravan Mela.

Officials informed the Secretary that, from Baba Ajgaibinath Temple in Sultananganj to Dumma at the Bihar border, grand gates, special lighting, decorations, and the echo of Shiva mantras will be arranged along the entire mela route. Keeping this in mind, arrangements are being made in all tent cities including Ajgaibinath and Sultananganj.

The meeting was attended by Managing Director of Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation Shri Nand Kishore, Tourism Director-cum-Special Secretary Shri Udayan Mishra, CEO of Jeevika Shri Himanshu Sharma, Joint Secretary Shri Pradeep Singh, General Manager of Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation Shri Chandan Chauhan, along with all concerned officials and staff.
