MIZORAM TO HOST INTERNATIONAL TOURISM MART 2022 FROM 17 TO 19 NOVEMBER at R DENGTHUAMA INDOOR STADIUM

KOLKATA, 13 NOVEMBER 2022

Mizoram will host the   10 th edition of  International Tourism Mart 2022 at R Denthuama Indoor Stadium in Aizawl from 17 to 19 November.

Union minister of  tourism, culture and development of North Eastern Region , Gangapuram Kishan Reddy and  Chief Minister of Mizoram, Zoramthanga will jointly inaugurate the ITM 2022.  Later they will also jointly lay the foundation stone of the Aizawl Convention Centre.

Union minister of state of defense and tourism, Ajay Bhatt, union minister of state of tourism, Shripad Naik will also be present. Tourism minister of Mizoram, Robert Ramayia Rowte etc.

Talking to The Travel and Tourism Times, Vantawl Lalengmawia, joint secretary  of Mizoram Tourism said that  the ITM 2022 will be organized and hosted by Ministry of Tourism, Government of India and Mizoram Tourism respectively, is a Business to Business Session (B2B) between domestic buyers as well as international buyers with sellers from Mizoram and other North Eastern States who will be taking part in the event to woo potential new clientele.

“ We are expecting about 250 delegates from MoT including officials, tour operators, travel agents, hoteliers etc. Some ASEAN and G 20 ambassadors are also expected to participate in this three day event,” said Vanrawl Lalengmawia.

“International Tourism Mart 2022 in Aizawl is a  Mega Exhibition for the travel and tourism industry. It provides an opportunity for organisations from Mizoram and North East States to showcase their products and services. Visitors can interact with tour operators, travel agents, hoteliers and airlines to gather information and make national and international travel plans.

The event presents an unparalleled marketing opportunity for exhibitors to connect directly with the largest gathering of prospective travellers and members of the travel industry,” said Anil Punjabi, Chairman ( East), Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI).

Aizawl Convention Centre is in Chite Veng. The project is sanctioned by the Ministry of Tourism under financial assistance from central CPSU. The executing agency selected by WAPCOS is Kolkata based contractor MP Khaitan. The project cost is Rs.3994 lakhs for Aizawl Convention Centre and associated infrastructure development.

Following sessions have been planned on 18th Nov:

*Session on Sustainable Tourism* –

The Ministry of Tourism has issued a National Strategy for Sustainable Tourism with the objective of mainstreaming sustainability into the tourism sector. The Ministry of Tourism is implementing Swadesh
Darshan 2.0 Scheme with focus on developing sustainable and responsible tourist destinations. The Ministry has started shortlisting destinations under Swadesh Darshan 2.0. Apart from the Ministry and other Experts, the States are requested to make presentations during the session and share their experiences in sustainable tourism and way forward/ future initiatives for promoting sustainable tourism.

*Session on Investment Promotion*-

The growth in the tourism sector is largely led by the Private Sector. In this connection, it is important for the States to promote private sector investment and also public private partnership in the tourism sector. The States are requested to make presentations about State policies for attracting investments in the tourism sector and investable opportunities in their respective States. This will encourage the private sector to explore the opportunities for investment in the northeast region. This will also build momentum towards the participation of the State in the Global Tourism Investor Summit to be organized by the Ministry of Tourism in Feb/ March 2023.

Distant from the charm of restaurants, ITM Food Festival ( organised by Mizoram Tourism along with Young Indians) at AR Ground is designed to bring out the best street delicacies of North East India into an even more charming ambience complemented with music.

This event makes ITM 2022 a perfect meeting place to feed the foodler (food+traveller) in you. There will be Chef Show by North east India Chef association.Mixology juggling show by ten times award winner and plenty of  cuisines from Mizo, Nepalese, Burmese, Japanese,South Indian, North Indian, Korean, streets and bakery items, chatts etc.

Preparation for International Tourism Mart 2022 which is going to be held from 17 – 19 Nov 2022 is in full swing  and in final stages at R Dengthuama Indoor Stadium.

With a wide variety of tourist attractions that provide an abundance of compelling reasons for travellers to make the journey here. Mystical Mizoram has plenty to offer from breathtaking sceneries and interesting cultures to elaborate celebrations and peace and serenity.

The previous edition of International Tourism Mart 2021  was held at Kohima.
