PHUKET WINS “ BEST WEDDING DESTINATION “ AWARD BY TRAVEL + LEISURE INDIA

The Beautiful Island of Phuket in Thailand was recently conferred with the “BEST WEDDING DESTINATION” (International) award at the prestigious Travel + Leisure India’s Best Awards 2022, held in New Delhi on 16th November 2022.

The popular Readers Choice Awards voted Phuket as the Best destination for Indian Wedding Celebrations through an online voting platform.

On receiving the award Mr Tanes Petsuwan, Deputy Governor for International Marketing (Asia and South Pacific) Tourism Authority of Thailand said “We are delighted to accept this reputed award by Travel + Leisure. Thailand is one of the most popular destinations for Indian weddings and special occasion celebrations.

Phuket in particular has hosted many Indian weddings and is a favourite choice for couples to celebrate their special moments with friends and family”. We look forward to welcoming more Indians and people from around the world to celebrate “Vivaha in Amazing Thailand.”

Mr Vachirachai Sirisumpan, Director – Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) , New Delhi collected the award and expressed his gratitude. He said “We would like to thank the readers of Travel + Leisure who voted Phuket as the Best International Wedding Destination. Phuket is indeed a very popular and loved destination for Indian travellers, who are also celebrating their special occasions in the nearby islands of Khao Lak & Krabi”.

Direct flights from various cities in India to Phuket have added to the popularity of this beautiful island. Apart from this, close proximity to India, visa on arrival facility, wide variety of luxury resorts, availability of good Indian and  vegetarian food, favourable weather and of course the warm hospitality of the people in Phuket, have helped the destination to become a preferred destination for Indian travellers.

Phuket is home to many destination weddings from all over the globe which is why it is a very culturally hospitable large town. Ranging from Christian to Buddhist to Thai to Indian, it has provisions and planners for all kinds of ceremonies. Magical, extravagant, opulent, vibrant and romantic are the few terms to describe the big fat Indian wedding in Phuket.
