As the sun sets on the banks of the Ganges, a momentous occasion is set to unfold at Howrah Railway Station. The inauguration of the Executive Lounge at New Complex of Howrah Railway station and Rail Coach Restaurant at Bapu Uddyan, Howrah, on November 10, 2023, promises an enchanting blend of sophistication and cultural richness.

In a momentous occasion, Mr. Santanu Thakur, union minister of State for Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Govt. of India, inaugurated the opulent Executive Lounge (at Howrah station, New Complex) and the innovative Rail Coach Restaurant at Bapu Uddyan, Howrah, on November 10, 2023.  Locket Chatterjee,  Member of Parliament has  attended the inaugural ceremony.  Amar Prakash Dwivedi, General Manager, Eastern Railway,  Sanjeev Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager, Howrah and Principal Head of the Departments of Eastern Railway were also present on this occasion. The ambiance was further heightened by a captivating cultural program, showcasing the diverse heritage of the region.

The Executive Lounge, sprawling over 848.97 square meters, offers an oasis of comfort with AC Waiting Hall for Luxurious Sitting & Resting, Conference Room, Baby care Room, Food Court, 8 Bedded Dormitory for Gents, 5 Bedded Dormitory for Ladies, 23 nos. AC Deluxe Room with attached toilet and modern facilities, Laptop station, Gents & Ladies separate Toilets with bathing facility promising an unparalleled travel experience.

For those seeking a unique dining affair, the transformed rail coach restaurant at Bapu Uddyan, overlooking the majestic Ganges, is set to redefine culinary indulgence. Here an abandoned ICF (Integral Coach Rake) Coach is transformed into a contemporary and comfortable restaurant. The interior has been artfully modified, boasting air conditioning to ensure a pleasant dining experience.

The event marks a milestone for Eastern Railway’s Howrah Division, bringing forth modern facilities as well as non-fare revenue generation.
