KOLKATA, 23 FEBRUARY 2023:

The state government of Uttarakhand has made it compulsory  for all  the pilgrims willing for Char Dham Yatra starting  from 22 April , the day of Ahshay Trtitiya this year to get them registered.

Both the domestic and the international pilgrims have to undergo the compulsory registration process.

About 4.5 million pilgrims visited Char Dham last year.

But this year, the state government is extra cautious after the subsidence at Joshimath and is beefing up all the safety and security aspects of the upcoming Char Dham Yatra.

Joshimath is the gateway to Badrinath Dham. The  Himalayan  area is now identified as a frazile zone.

The char dham covers an area of 1607 kilometres.

The holy yatra of the pilgrims begins with Yamunotri in UttarKashi. Then pilgrims move to Gangotri, Kederanath and lastly ends at Badrinath.

Though the state government feels that there is no imminent threat to the route of the pilgrims going to Char Dham Yatra, it wants to control the number this year, it seems.
