The tableu of Jammu and Kashmir in the 74 th Republic day parade at the national capital showcases the pilgrim and recreational tourism potential of Jammu and Kashmir today at Kartavya Path in presence of President, Smt. Droupadi Murmu.
The beautifully decorated tableau of the union territory focused on the pilgrimage and adevtenture tourism sites.
With the theme ‘ Naya Jammu and Kashmir’, a message has been sent about the latest and new developments of the UT along with highlighting the tourism hotspots of the Amarnath cave shrine and pilgrimage centre, Gulmarg and the famous Tulip gardens.
With Jammu and Kashmir tourism department playing a significant role in boosting adventure tourism in the country the tableau also consisted of a ski resort in Gulmarg.
The sculptures of a common leopard, Kashmiri Stag or hangul ,khalij pheasants etc have been showcased in the tractor section. The Kasjmiri stag once an endangered species are now found in the steep parts of the union territory.
A group of artists clad in traditional clothes accompanied the float.
Last year the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism has registered a record arrival of domestic tourists since independence and after the revocation of article 370 and a hiatus of almost two years due to outbreak of corona virus pandemic the figures are really encouraging for the toursim department of the ‘Switzerland of the East’.
The trolley segment also featured the mud homes at the centre and the womenfolk working in lavendar farms and Tulip gardens. Rural homestays have emerged as the fastest grwing segment in the bread and breakfast market since the outbreak of the pandemic globally.
In recent times, the Jammu and Kashmir tourism department has also been focussing on homestays and has planned to increase about 50,000 keys in 75 new locations , which will significantly provide local employment opportunities and will also drastically reduce the carbon footprint.
About 23 lakhs tourists have visited the Kashmir valley in the first nine months last year including 3.5 lakhs in Amarnath.
