Tucked away in a not-so prominent location of the high-end Race Course area of Coimbatore city, On the Go, a multi cuisine restaurant, serves up some very delicious food.
Race Course is considered a posh area of Coimbatore city, with high-end clubs like the Coimbatore Club and Cosmopolitan Club located within a stone’s throw of the restaurant. The ambience of the eatery spells comfort and coziness. We were there early for dinner (they open at 7pm) and the place was empty. However, before long, patrons started trickling in and when we left an hour later, there were almost no vacant tables.
Greenery surrounds the full glass walls of the restaurant, giving it an open and spacious feel. Privacy has been taken care of with a bamboo fence but this only added to the nature feel.
The interiors are a mix of traditional seating and comfort seating. Some tables, some sofas – patrons are free to pick their seating as per their comfort and requirement. The wall décor is also done on a homely theme, providing a cozy and comfortable atmosphere.
The restaurant offers predominantly Indian food but also select Italian, Greek, Thai, etc. items. We decided to go with Italian for the day. The tomato bruschetta (appetizer) turned out to be a brilliant choice – it was crispy, delicious with the taste of garlic in the olive oil dressing coming through without overpowering the dish.
The nachos with cheese, and salsa were our next choice. While the nachos could have been a little crispier, the salsa was very good indeed.
The grilled chicken salad with lemon basic dressing, named “I Am Wild” was a good choice. Well-seasoned and could easily by shared by two people, it could have done with a little extra dressing on the side.
Overall, it was a very pleasant meal and fairly easy on the pocket too. On the Go is definitely worth another go.
