From tomorrow onwards the Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation will introduce six additional services in the East – West Metro Corridor.
All these additional services will be at intervals of 12 minutes each instead of the earlier 15 minutes. According to east West Metro official sources so far 100 trains used to run between the Sealdah to Sector V in Salt lake route, but from Monday about 106 trains will run.
The first additional service will be from Sealdal to Salt Lake Sector V at 6.55 AM and Salt Lake Sector V to Sealdah at 7 AM. The last service from Sealdah to Salt Lake Sector V will be at 9.35 PM and from Salt Lake Sector V to Sealdah at 9.40 PM.
Already the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) has given their permission to commence commercial operations on the 6.5 kilometres long Joka- Taratala Metro Corridor of Kolkata Metro. Metro rail services in the Garia – Ruby route will also start by the end of this year.
There will be six stations between Joka and Taratala – Joka, Thakurpukur, Sakherbazar, Behala Chowrasta, Behala Bazar and Taratala.
It is projected that the entire 16.6 kilometres long East West Metro route from Salt Lake City to Howrah Maidan through Kolkata will be completed within August 2023.
