The Spicejet second flight from Kolkata to Bangkok has generated tremendous interest amongst the passengers and all seats are getting booked.
Recently, the low cost airline Spicejet has launched its daily second flight services from Kolkata to Bangkok. Thai Smile and Indigo also operate daily flights from Kolkata to Bangkok. Thai Airways however is yet to resume flight services from Kolkata.
Talking to The Travel and Tourism Times, Anil Punjabi, Chairman (East) of Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) said that Spicejet has recently launched its second daily flight to Bangkok from Kolkata and the timings are excellent and are getting a good response.
“ Business in Thailand has returned to normalcy and we are looking at the good old days coming back when the business for Thailand was roaring. Thailand Tourism Authority (TAT) has also extended full support to the trade and we are planning early next year buyers and sellers to meet both in India and in Thailand,” added Anil Punjabi.
Today a meeting took place in which Denjit Ghosh, AVP (sales), Kaushik Mukherjee , Manager Corporate Sales ( eastern India), Supriya Kesh, Regional Manager ( Trade Sales) Eastern India were present along with Anil Punjabi, the TAFI chairman of Eastern India. Basically it was a get together after the Diwali and the festive season.
Several issues have been discussed and proposals have been given to add the Bodh Gaya Tourism circuit to further boost tourism.
“ The focus of TAT is also in Eastern India as it is geographically located nearer. It takes only two hours and the flight ticket costs between Rs.18,000 to Rs.20,000. It is easily saleable and is emerging as a family and repeat destination. Thailand is emerging as an affordable wedding destination. Lot of Indian marriages are taking place at Hua Hin. With the demand slowly peeking up and with the further growth in this sector, Spicejet is aggressively working after the introduction of its second flight to have the lion’s share of this booming market,” adds Anil Punjabi.
There are also hotel accommodations from every sector of tourists ranging from no stars category to seven star categories.
This year already a large number of foreigners have visited the city and the state during the first Durga Puja Carnival after receiving the Unesco cultural world heritage tag. A lot of enthusiasm has been generated globally and from next year onwards more people are expected to visit the state during the Durga Puja carnival, travel agents said.
In 2019 a record number of Indian tourists have visited Thailand and Eastern India had contributed the highest percentage of share of tourists.
