Amidst massive chaotic situation since overnight the air traffic system is restoring back slowly to normalcy throughout the United States of America (USA).
Flights started take off from Hartsfield – Jackson Atlanta Airport and Newark Airport in New Jersey around 9 AM ET ( 1400 GMT).
Due to a technical glitch the Notice for Air Admission (NOTAM) system has failed according to the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) , the aviation regulator resulting in grounding of all flights throughout the country.
FAA has directed to pause all domestic departures till 9 AM US eastern Time.
Aircrafts are grounded in Hawaii, Washington, Texas, Pennsylvania airports, US media said.
As aircrafts are either grounded, delayed or cancelled, the passengers shared their harrowing experiences in social media and described the incident with the 9/11 terror attack on World Trade Centre in New York.
After the system collapsed due to a technical glitch FAA has directed all domestic flight services to pause , resulting in delays to more than 1200 flights throughout the country.
Work has been going on to restore all the computer systems, FAA had updated earlier. The White House has also ruled out any cyber attack and stated that it is a ‘failure of a critical safety system’.
US President Joe Biden has been briefed and he has called for a ‘full investigation’.
The latest update is that more than 4300 flights have been delayed and 700 flights cancelled and it will take a long time to restore back normalcy.
FAA said that slowly the system is getting restored back in the airports. But due to heavy traffic the situation will take a long time to become normal.
Air Canada said that the problem will take time to settle and is looking for alternatives to its passengers.
