WILDLIFE : LT. GOVERNOR MANOJ SINHA INAUGURATES JAMBU ZOO NEAR NAGROTA AT THE OUTSKIRTS OF JAMMU CITY TODAY

KOLKATA, 29 MAY 2023:

Lt. Governor, Manoj Sinha has inaugurated the  Rs.70 crores Jambu Zoo, near Nagrakota, at the outskirts of kammu City which will further boost the tourism of the area.

LG Manoj Sinha tweeted, “ This much aawaited addition to the tourist destinations of J&K , spread over 70 ha area, was taken up under Languioshing Project  and it shall attract both local residents and tourists visiting Union Territory,”.

At 11 AM today he has inauguarted the zoo and it is also thrown open for the public from Monday.

Named after King Jambu Lochan,  the founder of Jammu the zoo  is spread over 162 hectares of land at the foothills of Shivalik will be one of the largest zoos in North India.  As a trial basis some wild animals have been shifted from the Manda Zoo.

There are 19 animal enclosures at present.

Located on the Jammu – Sri Nagar Highway, this Zoo is set to be a top torism attraction in the days to come for Kashmir and the pilgrims of Vaishno Devi Shrine in Katra.

The zoo has an artificial waterfall and will have asiatic lion, Royal Bengal Tiger, leipards, bear, crcodiles, deer etc.

Entry to the Zoo is free for the first week only. The zoo also has an open air amusement park for the children and 10 battery operated vehicles for the visitors. 10 more battery operated vehicles will be purchased soon.
