EVENT : PRCI GOA MARKS NATIONAL PR DAY WITH FELICITATION OF VETERAN JOURNALISTS AND FOCUS ON MEDIA-PR SYNERGY

The Goa Chapter of the Public Relations Council of India (PRCI), in association with the Goa Marathi Patrakar Sangh, successfully celebrated National Public Relations Day with a heartfelt felicitation ceremony to honour veteran journalists from the state who have made enduring contributions to journalism and public engagement.

The event was held at the Miramar Residency Hall, Panaji, and was graced by the Union Minister of State for Power and New and  Renewable Energy, Mr. Shripad Yesso Naik, who attended as the Chief Guest. In his keynote remarks, Shri Naik underscored the critical importance of public communication, stating, “Public relations is a vital link in strengthening democracy”. He emphasized that effective public outreach is the cornerstone of governance and development.

Dr. Nilesh Khare, Chief Editor of Sakal Media Group, Mumbai, joined as the Special Invitee and Principal Speaker, and shared valuable insights on the evolving role of media and public relations in today’s digital age. He highlighted the need for responsible storytelling and maintaining public trust through ethical communication practices.

The event was presided over by Mr. Deepak Narvekar, Chairman of PRCI Goa Chapter, who reiterated PRCI’s commitment to recognising media stalwarts and fostering a strong network of public relations professionals across the state. He remarked, “This felicitation is just the beginning; we envision regular recognition and stronger partnerships with journalists in the future.”

The program commenced with a warm welcome address by Mr. Nikhil Wagh Secretary PRCI Goa Chapter. The felicitation ceremony honoured several esteemed senior journalists from Print Media and TV Channels in Goa for their decades-long dedication to truthful, impactful reporting and shaping public opinion in Goa.

Also present at the event were Mr. Gurunath Pai (Vice Chairman), Mr. Nikhil Wagh (Secretary), Smt. Nikita Chodankar (Media Coordinator), Mr. John Aguiar (Treasurer), and Mr. Jones Samuel (Assistant Treasurer) and Mr. Sandeep Kamble.

Mr. Waman Prabhu, Vice Chairman of PRCI Goa Chapter and President of the Goa Marathi Patrakar Sangh proposed vote of Thanks. Mr. Dinesh Tare successfully compere the function.

The ceremony was marked by an atmosphere of gratitude, mutual respect, and forward-looking dialogue between media professionals and public relations practitioners. It served not only as a celebration of individual excellence but also as a call to strengthen collaboration between the press and PR communities for the larger benefit of society.
