On Friday 8 September, the Etihad Airways and Armani Casa Inflight Range designed by Buzz was awarded a prestigious Good Design Award in recognition for outstanding design and innovation.
In awarding the program a prestigious Gold Award in the Product Design Category, the Awards Jury commented: “The Armani Casa for Etihad Airways Inflight range is reminiscent of the French Pillivyt range of crockery. The simple 1960s design of the serving plates, cups and glasses will remain timeless over many years. A cohesively functional yet refined style, it’s a really fantastic result with the limitations at hand.”
The Good Design Awards honour design and innovation and reward diverse projects across 11 Design Disciplines covering more than 35 Categories and Subcategories. More than 900 entries were evaluated according to a strict set of design evaluation criteria which includes Good Design, Design Innovation and Design Impact.
The Armani Casa for Etihad collaboration is an unparalleled brand partnership in travel, exhibiting an elevated level of bespoke creation and a premium travel experience previously unseen in the industry. Created for Etihad Airways’ Business Class passengers in partnership with celebrated designer Giorgio Armani, the collection includes a refined dining service featuring contemporary ceramics and glassware, elegant patterned handle cutlery and serving ware, as well as premium textiles for a completely luxurious inflight experience.
“To be recognised with an Australian Good Design Award tells the world this project not only represents design excellence, but it also surpasses the criteria for design innovation and design impact. The Good Design Award is an independent endorsement of professional design quality,” said Dr. Brandon Gien, CEO of Good Design Australia and Chair of the Australian Good Design Awards.
Projects recognised with an Australian Good Design Award demonstrate excellence in professional design and highlight the impact a design-led approach has on business success and social and environmental outcomes.
The Armani Casa range for Etihad was also awarded the Travel Plus Airline Amenity Award for Best Business Class Bedding in June of this year.
