Today, the union secretary of department of health and family welfare , Rajesh Bhusan has issued a notification dropping the existing requirements of pre departure Covid-19, testing and uploading of Selh – Health Declaration on ministry of civil aviation’s “Air Subhda “portal applicable for international travelers coming from / via China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Republic of Korea, Thailand and Japan.
The arrangement shall come into effect from 11 AM on Monday, 13 February 2023.
There has been a lot of persuation and follow ups with the centre on this issue by both the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) and Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) recently and the results are the constant efforts of these two top travel agentys associations in the country, it seems.
Talking to The Travel and Tourism Times, Mr. Anil Punjabi said that it is a great news as the travel and tourism sector now moving towards complete normalcy.
“The apprehension is out of window when you travel to these countries . I see it is a very positive step and will surely will boost the business,’ added Mr. Anil Punjabi.
“ It has been witnessed in last four weeks, these countries are witnessing a sustained and significant decline in trajectory of covid-19 cases. Further, as per World Health Organisation’s latest situational update on Covid-19, a decline of 89% in the number of newly confirmed cases in the past 28 days has been noted globally as compared to 28 days prior to that. Meanwhile, India has continued to witness a declining trajectory, with less than 100 new cases/ day being reported,” the notification said.
In order to monitor infections due to mutated variants of SARS – coV-2 among international travellers to India, the present exercise of random testing of 2% travellers to India ( irrespective of country of origin) upon arrival India shall continue, it added.
