The largest Tulip Garden in Asia, located at Srinagar in Kashmir will be open to the public from 19 March. It is spread over an area of 74 acres and situated at an altitude of 5600 feet high. Mesmerizing people at the foothills of Zabarwan Mountain Range In Srinagar.
The authority has planned to hold a grand opening ceremony for the occasion.
This year around 1.6 million Tulips will bloom in the Garden, an increase from about 1.5 million Tulips of 48 varieties bloomed last year.
Commissioner secretary of Floriculture department, Sheikh Fayaz said that there will be added attractions this year with a moving fountain and a water channel set up inside the garden.
“ We hope that this year there will be a record footfall of tourists at the Tulip Gardens as we expect more than 16 lakhs blooming of different varieties of Tulip,”said Sheikh Fayaz.
Overlooking the world famous Dal Lake in the foothills of Zabarwan mountains, Srinagar tulip garden is located at a distance of 8 kilometres from Lal Chowk (The Main City Center) of Srinagar, 18 kilometres from Srinagar International Airport and 17 kilometres from Srinagar Railway Station.
This seven terraced garden will have a water channel and more green areas to let the visitors relish their best memories in the garden.
The garden has many sections and each section is designed by gardeners to make it unique. Every section hosts different varieties of Tulips like strong gold, margaritas, candela, kung fu, early harvest, ile de france, etc.
The garden was opened in 2007 with the aim to boost floriculture and tourism in the Kashmir Valley. It was formerly known as Siraj Bagh. About 1.5 million tulip bulbs, all in multiple colours, were brought Keukenhof tulip gardens of Amsterdam. Besides tulips, there are 46 varieties of flowers, including hyacinths, daffodils and ranunculus which were also brought from The Netherlands. The tulip garden is home to around 68 varieties of tulips.
Asia’s largest tulip garden has been equipped with many other modern day facilities like Free WiFi, Fountains, Washrooms, Open-air Cafeteria, Decorated stalls and kiosks.
The Tulip Garden will remain open from 7 AM to 7 PM.
