KOLKATA, 9 MARCH 2023:
Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, an IAS officer of the 2012 batch , Administrative Secretary of Culture Department and also holding additional charge of Chief Executive Officer, Economic Reconstruction Agency, Jammu and Kashmir has been appointed as the new Administrative Secretary of the Tourism Department.
He has replaced Mr. Sarmad Hafeez, another IAS officer, who has played an outstanding role in his tenure to promote tourism in Kashmir.
The Tourist Trade Interest Guild (TTIG) has welcomed the appointment of Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah as the new tourism secretary of Kashmir.
“ We are sure that under the leadership of Abid Rashid Shah, Kashmir’s tourism sector will touch new heights and he will play an important role in the promotion of Kashmir Tourism across the world,” said vice chairman of Tourist Trade Interest Guild (TTIG) , Bashir Ahmed Karnai.
In the 75 th year of the azadai ki amrut mahotsav celebrations, in the first nine months of 2022 about 1.62 crores people have visited Jammu and Kashmir ( the paradise on earth) with about 22 lakhs people alone visiting the Kashmir valley, including visitors of Amarnath, which has surpassed all the previous records since independence.
To further boost tourism in the valley the tourism department have added 75 off – beat tourism destinations and presently work is going on for registration of 50,000 bed home stays in rural areas.
