Thomas Cook has issued a travel advisory to the Indian air travelers departing for both domestic and international flights to reach their respective airports three hours before their scheduled departure of the flights as per the new protocols to be followed on the directives of Bureau of Civil Aviation Safety in India.
During the ongoing tension and war like situation between India and Pakistan already the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and relevant aviation authorities have issued a series of Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) announcing the temporary closure of 32 airports across northern and western India for all civil flight operations, effective from 9th to 14th May 2025 (which corresponds to 0529 IST on 15th May 2025), due to operational reasons.
“ At Thomas Cook Travel, customer safety is of paramount important to us . For customers departing from Indian Airports ( both domestic and international flights ) please ensure that you arrive at least 3.5 hours prior to departure time. Check in closes 75 minutes before departure. This is due to enhanced airport security measures announced by the union Ministry of Civil Aviation.”
It further stated , “ Given this is an evolving situation , we advise customers to check updated advisories from the Government of India , civil aviation authorities and airlines/s concerned.”
India’s number one domestic flight operators, IndiGo Airlines has also issued a travel advisory to its passengers and said that during this period the cancellations of bookings prices will be waived off.
Air India has also issued travel advisories to its passengers and have given a number of the Contact Centre.
The following airports are affected by this NOTAM:
- Adhampur
- Ambala
- Amritsar
- Awantipur
- Bathinda
- Bhuj
- Bikaner
- Chandigarh
- Halwara
- Hindon
- Jaisalmer
- Jammu
- Jamnagar
- Jodhpur
- Kandla
- Kangra (Gaggal)
- Keshod
- Kishangarh
- Kullu Manali (Bhuntar)
- Leh
- Ludhiana
- Mundra
- Naliya
- Pathankot
- Patiala
- Porbandar
- Rajkot (Hirasar)
- Sarsawa
- Shimla
- Srinagar
- Thoise
- Uttarlai
All civil flight activities at these airports will remain suspended during this period.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has also extended the temporary closure of 25 segments of Air Traffic Service (ATS) routes within the Delhi and Mumbai Flight Information Regions (FIRs) due to operational reasons.
As per NOTAM G0555/25 (which replaces G0525/25), the 25 route segments will remain unavailable from ground level to unlimited altitude until 2359 UTC on 14th May 2025 (which corresponds to 0529 IST on 15th May 2025).
Airlines and flight operators have been advised to plan alternate routings as per current air traffic advisories. The temporary closure is being managed in coordination with relevant ATC units to ensure safety and minimize disruption.
