RAILWAYS : FULFILMENT OF LONG CHERISHED DEMAND: AGARTALA – ANAND VIHAR TEJAS RAJDHANI EXPRESS NOW STOPS AT MALDA TOWN

KOLKATA, 16 JANUARY 2024:

The Railway Ministry, under the  leadership of  Prime Minister  Narendra Modi, has granted the much-awaited stoppage of the 20501 Agartala – Anand Vihar Tejas Rajdhani Express at Malda Town station. This development marks a significant stride in the development of railways in West Bengal, addressing the long-standing demand of the inhabitants of Malda.

The 20501/20502 Agartala – Anand Vihar (T) Tejas Rajdhani weekly Express now to run via diverted route through Malda Town – Bhagalpur – Jamalpur with commercial stoppages at Malda Town, Bhagalpur & Jamalpur in Eastern Railway jurisdiction for the train leaving Agartala w.e.f. 15.1.2024 and leaving Anand Vihar (T) w.e.f. 17.1.2024.

On the first day of the run of Agartala – Anand Vihar Tejas Rajdhani Express via Malda Town, the train was flagged off from Malda Town station this afternoon by Mr. Khagen Murmu, MP, Smt. Srirupa Mitra Chowdhury,  MLA and Mr. Gopal Chandra Saha,  MLA. Mr. Vikas Chaube, Divisional Railway Manager, Malda and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.

The Rajdhani Express, now traversing a new route via Malda Town-Bhagalpur, promises not only enhanced connectivity but also commercial stoppages at crucial stations such as Malda Town, Bhagalpur, Jamalpur, and Patna in both directions. The train has commenced its journey on January 15, 2024, from Agartala at 15:10 hrs. and will reach Malda Town station today 16.01.2024 at 15:00 hrs. The train will run weekly, reaching Anand Vihar at 10:50 hrs on Wednesdays. The return journey of 20502 Anand Vihar – Agartala Tejas Rajdhani Express will depart from Anand Vihar Terminal at 19:50 hrs on Wednesdays, reaching Agartala at 15:40 hrs on Fridays. This train will stop at Ambassa, Dharmanagar, New Karimganj, Badarpur, Hojai, Guwahati, Rangia, Barpeta Road, New Jalpaiguri, Malda Town, Bhagalpur, Jamalpur, Patna, Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Jn & Kanpur Central stations enroute in both the directions. In UP direction journey, 20501 will arrive at Malda Town at 15:00 hrs. on Tuesdays and will stop there for 10 minutes whereas in the Down direction 20502 will arrive Malda Town at 16:25 hrs to stop there for 10 minutes.

In addition to providing convenience for residents of Malda Town, the new stoppage is set to benefit the people of Bhagalpur and Jamalpur at large. The train’s schedule includes stoppages at key stations, offering improved accessibility and connectivity. This Tejas Rajdhani Express, equipped with state-of-the-art LHB rake, boasts 1st AC, 2nd AC, and 3rd AC accommodations with a total capacity of 972 berths. Passengers from Malda Town can now avail themselves of this service on its designated days, adding a new dimension to their travel options.

Mr. Kausik Mitra Chief Public Relations Officer, Eastern Railway said “This move reflects the Railway’s commitment to bolstering regional connectivity and ensuring the well-being and convenience of our passengers.”

RESCHEDULING OF TRAINS:

Due to late running of corresponding Down link trains, following trains will be rescheduled as under:

12311 Howrah – Kalka Netaji Express will leave Howrah at 02:00 hrs. on 17.01.2024 instead of 21:55 hrs. on 16.01.2024.

12323 Howrah – Barmer Express will leave Howrah at 23:55 hrs. on 1.01.2024 instead of 18:50 hrs. on 16.01.2024.

12331 Howrah – Jammu Tawi Express will leave Howrah at 01:00 hrs. on 17.01.2024 instead of 23:55 hrs. on 16.01.2024.
