RS.11,790 CRORES BUDGETARY ALLOCATIONS FOR WEST BENGAL, HOWRAH, ASANSOL, KOLKATA, BANDEL STATIONS TO BE REVAMPED : RAILWAY MINISTER ASWINI VAISNAW

Union Railway minister, Aswini Vaisnaw has said that finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman has allocated Rs.11,790 crores for the state of West Bengal in the union budget for up gradation of railways.

West Bengal which has already got its first Vande Bharat Express train is all set to get the first hydrogen fuelled train, Vande Metro in Darjeeling Himalayan Railways, a UNESCO World Heritage site by the end of this year.

“ This year the railways have received a record allocation which is thrice from the  amount of Rs.4380 crores during 2009-2014. A total of 93 stations in West Bengal will be revamped and the major revamp of the stations will be in Howrah, Asansol, Kolkata and bandel,”he said in a virtual press conference.

4032 kilometres of new railway lines will be laid and 11% increase in doubling of railway lines will take place, he said.

South Eastern Railways (SER) has received Rs.7168.5 crores and a total 30 stations of the state will be developed under the Amrit Bharat Station schemes. SER has received 21 % hike in the budget.

Under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme selected stations for Adra division are Bokaro steel city, Purulia, Bankura, Adra, Bishnupur, Barabhum, Bhaga, Burnpur, Chandrakona Road, Garbeta, Anara, Chandil, Joychandipahar, Salboni and Madhukunda of South Eastern Railway.

The Detail Project Report (DPR) for redevelopment of  Howrah station and Asansol railway Station have been completed and the projects are to be sanctioned very soon.

For Asansol Division , 15 stations have been identified under Amrit Bharat Station Schemes.  These stations are to be upgraded to world class stations providing all passenger amenities.

“ We have identified Simultala, Shankarpur, Madhupur, Jamtara, Vidyasagar, Sitarampur, Andal, pandaveswar, Panagarh, Suri, Dumka, Kumardhubi,  Deogarh stations for development and beautification of the station and circulating areas under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The process has started to prepare the DPR of these projects and will be sent to the Railway Board for final approval,” informed  Mr. Permanand Sharma, DRM of Asansol.

Jasidih station under Asansol division of Eastern Railway will also get a major revamp and redevelopment.

Total 1275  small stations in the country have been identified for up gradation under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme throughout the country.

Indian Railways is the fourth largest railway operator in the world.
