To ensure the comprehensive development of Bihar’s Buddhist Circuit, Tourism Secretary Mr. Nilesh Ramchandra Deore held an important meeting with representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) at the Tourism Department office located in the Main Secretariat in Patna today . Tourism Director-cum-Special Secretary Mr. Udayan Mishra and other concerned departmental officials were also present at the meeting.

In his address, the Tourism Secretary of Bihar, Mr. Nilesh Ramchandra Deore stated that the government is continuously working towards the overall tourism development of Rajgir, Nalanda, Gaya Ji, and Bodh Gaya. In line with the announcement made in the Union Budget, a consultant has prepared a development plan for these areas, which is currently being finalized.

The objective is to encourage tourists visiting Buddhist Circuits of Gaya–Bodh Gaya and Rajgir–Nalanda to spend more time at these destinations, thereby strengthening the local economy. For this purpose, plans include developing more happening centers, art and craft villages, housing projects, and better markets for GI-tagged products.
A detailed action plan is also being prepared to develop tourism infrastructure in the greenland area between Gaya and Bodh Gaya. Additionally, work is underway on a plan under the “One State, One Tourist Destination” initiative.

During the meeting, ADB representatives stated that there are immense possibilities for tourism development in the Buddhist Circuit. A study has already been conducted, and the feasibility report has also been received.
Dr. Kaulesh Kumar, Secretary General of Association of Buddhist Tour Operators (ABTO) has welcomed the latest move of the Bihar Tourism department to boost Buddhist Tourism circuit in the state and assured all support.
