The Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur, in its Dean’s Meeting held today, warmly welcomed four eminent individuals to key leadership positions that are set to further enhance the academic, infrastructural, and global outreach initiatives of the Institute.
Prof. Bhabani Kumar Satapathy, Professor in the Department of Metallurgical & Materials Engineering, has joined as the Deputy Director, IIT Jodhpur. A distinguished academic and administrator, Prof. Satapathy brings with him vast experience in academic governance, research leadership, and interdisciplinary coordination. As Deputy Director, he will assist in the overall academic and administrative functioning of the Institute and play a pivotal role in policy formulation and institutional development.
Dr. Ankur Gupta, Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, has been appointed as the Dean of International Relations (DOIR). In this role, Dr. Gupta will be responsible for expanding IIT Jodhpur’s global footprint through strategic international collaborations, academic exchange programs, and partnerships with foreign universities and research institutions. His leadership is expected to elevate the Institute’s visibility on the world academic stage.
Dr. Aashish Mathur, Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, has taken charge as the Dean of Digital Infrastructure and Automation (DDIA). With deep expertise in digital systems and automation, Dr. Mathur will lead initiatives to strengthen campus-wide digital governance, IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and automation of institutional processes to enhance operational efficiency and data-driven decision-making.
Major General Sanjay Rihani (Retd.) has joined IIT Jodhpur as Advisor (Infrastructure). A seasoned leader with decades of experience in infrastructure development and management in the Indian Army, Maj. Gen. Rihani will guide the Institute in planning, developing, and maintaining world-class infrastructure to support the growing academic and research ecosystem of IIT Jodhpur.
Prof. Avinash Kumar Agarwal, Director, IIT Jodhpur, extended a warm welcome to all the newly appointed leaders and presented each of them with a symbolic pot of plant — a gesture reflecting growth, sustainability, and new beginnings. Speaking on the occasion, he expressed confidence that the new team members will play a crucial role in shaping the future of IIT Jodhpur through visionary leadership and collaborative efforts.
With these strategic appointments, IIT Jodhpur reinforces its commitment to academic excellence, global outreach, digital transformation, and infrastructure development, aligned with its vision to be a leading institute of higher education and innovation in India and beyond.
