FIRST G20 MEETING STARTS IN GUWAHATI FROM TOMMOROW, OVER 100 DELEGATES HAVE ARRIVED

GUWAHATI, 1 FEBRUARY 2023

Union minister of shipping, waterways and Ayush,  Sarbananda Sonowal will  inaugurate the first set of G20 events to be held at Guwahati in Assam tomorrow.

 Guwahati will host the first meetings on 2 and 3 February. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has welcomed the delegates and special musical programme have been organized at the Gopinath Bordoloi Airport.

Assam  will host the first Sustainable Financial Working Group (SFWG) meeting and  then the Youth 20 Inception event  as part of India’s year-long G20 presidency.
The north eastern state will also host two events in March and one in April.


The first SFWG meeting will be held at a hotel in the state’s largest city Guwahati from tomorrow and will be  attended by over 100  delegates from the member countries of G20, guest nations, different international organisations and officials from the Centre.
Assam CM  Himanta Biswa Sarma shared a clip on twitter  of an assamese traditional musical performance at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport.

Chandni Raina, adviser to the Ministry of Finance said that through this G-20 meeting Assam will be benefited  immensely  showcasing its  rich tradition, heritage and culture including the rich flora and fauna of the state to the global audience.

 After welcoming  the foreign delegates to Assam, programmes have been arranged in which  several delegates today visited places of  tourism importance like Kaziranga National Park, Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, Gorbhanga Reserve Forest, Brahmaputra’s River Island and Brahmaputra Heritage Centre etc.

 Traffic restrictions have been issued at Guwahati due to A.R.Rahaman concert and G20 meeting from 1 to 3 February.
