Malda area which once famous as an integral part of Gour Kingdom has undergone metamorphosis down the ages. Keeping in view the cultural importance of this area, Railways have planned for a thorough rejuvenation of Malda Town station by redevelopment of the station under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Eastern Railway is pleased to announce the rapid progress of the Jet-Speed Redevelopment Project currently underway at Malda Town station as a part of the prestigious Amrit Bharat Scheme with a total investment of ₹43 crore. This monumental effort aims to transform the railway infrastructure, enhance passenger experience, and provide world-class amenities to travellers.
The redevelopment plan of Malda Town station envisaged the works which will transform the station into a world class such as construction of new station building thereby augmentation of infrastructure, construction of Double Height Hall, Parking for Private Vehicles, Future arrival blocks, Crew Lobby, Walkway, RPF Barrack, Road electric substation, improvement of Sulabh Sauchalay and boundary wall for Proposed Concourse.
Salient features in the first phase of the redevelopment:
- Facade & circulating area improvement with surfacing of platforms
- Upper Class waiting halls & benches
- Cleaner Toilets & dustbins
- Display boards & user friendly signages
- Improved lighting for illumination and provision of fans
- Provision of Grand concourse
- Open food court, cafeteria and commercial area.
