RT-PCR TEST MANDATORY FOR PASSENGERS ARRIVING FROM CHINA, SOUTH KOREA,JAPAN,, HONK KONG, THAILAND : UNION HEALTH MINISTER MANSUKH MANDAVIYA

Passengers arriving from the five countries- China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Thailand have to fill up the Air Subidha form and  undergo the mandatory RT- PCR Tests, said union health minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya today.

After arrival they have to undergo thermal screening also and if found fever or tested positive then they will be quarantined.

“ In order to minimise the risk of ingress of new variants of SARS – CoV-2 virus in the country, central government has reviewed the situation and decided that precationary measures need to be taken by various stakeholders. Accordingly, the Guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for international arrivals dated 22.12.2022 are to be followed for compliance of all concerned which inludes a sub section of 2% of the total passengers in the flight shall undergo random post arrival testing at the airport on arrival and airlines and the airports have been directed to act accordingly,” according to a notice of ministry of civil aviation on 23 December.

“ Travellers are postponing, some are even cancelling and some are doing wait and watch and aprehension is there amongst them. But I feel at this moment there is no need to get panicked the infected areas are to be avoided and all passengers from such countries should be tested  and people should maintain covid safety protocols  strictly,” said Mr. Anil Punjabi, Chairman ( East) of Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) .

Mr. Manav Soni, Chairman ( East) of Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) said that people should abide by the resolutions taken by the central government.

“ It takes about four years for a pandemic to settle, so the waves will come and go and already most of the travellers have taken vaccines and are having herd immunity. Within the next one to  two months the current situation in countries like China will stabilise. Tourism industry is already on the right  path to revival  and at present there is no such  threat and tourism is here to stay,” added Mr. Manav Soni.
