RAILWAY : PANAGARH STATION IS GETTING REVAMP WITH MODERNIZED FACILITIES UNDER AMRIT BHARAT STATION SCHEME

In alignment with the Honorable Prime Minister’s vision, Panagarh Station is undergoing significant redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, focusing on upgrading passenger facilities and services. The modernization project is now approaching completion, with the majority of work already finished and the remaining tasks being completed swiftly. This redevelopment will greatly enhance the overall passenger experience, offering modern infrastructure, improved accessibility, and upgraded services, making Panagarh Station a more efficient and passenger-friendly travel hub.

Panagarh is located on the Bardhaman–Asansol section, a critical part of the Howrah–Gaya–Delhi line, Howrah–Allahabad–Mumbai line, and Howrah–Delhi main line. The station is situated in Panagarh, an industrial town in the Durgapur subdivision of Paschim Bardhaman district, West Bengal. With its proximity to the Asansol-Durgapur industrial belt, Panagarh has become a hub for investments, housing major industries. This industrial growth emphasizes the need for a modern, efficient transportation hub to support both passengers and goods movement.

Key redevelopment works at Panagarh Station include the construction of a new station building, which will feature modern amenities and improved services for passengers. No. of two lifts (02) are being installed to enhance accessibility, particularly for the elderly and differently-abled.

The station’s circulating area on both sides will be improved for better traffic circulation and will undergo beautification, creating a more welcoming environment. The existing facade and elevation will also be upgraded, with modern lighting installations to ensure a vibrant and well-illuminated station. Interior improvements such as revamped waiting halls, ticket counters, and the provision of high-quality durable furniture will enhance passenger comfort. Standard signages will be installed to improve accessibility and navigation.

This redevelopment is a testament to the Railway’s commitment to improving passenger experience and operational efficiency. Upon completion, Panagarh Station is expected to play a pivotal role in supporting the local economy, catering to both passengers and industries in the region, and boosting connectivity to the surrounding industrial and economic centers.
