KOLKATA, 23 OCTOBER 2024:

According to the  vision  and dream of  Prime Minister  Narendra Modi of modernizing the railway stations in the country,  Simultala Station under Asansol Division of Eastern Railway  is  all set for a significant upgradation  under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme,  which is aimed at further enhancing passenger amenities and overall services and boost tourism in the region.

Simultala Railway Station, located in Bihar’s Jamui district on the Jasidih–Kiul section, serves as a vital connection for nearby villages. Known for its serene, hill station-like environment, the station is surrounded by lush greenery and colonial-era bungalows, attracting tourists seeking a peaceful retreat. The surrounding area relies heavily on agriculture, with the station playing a key role in linking locals to markets in nearby towns like Deoghar and Jamui. Simultala is also notable for its educational institutions and proximity to religious sites.

Key improvements include the construction of a new station building on the southern side, offering enhanced facilities for passengers. A new Foot Over Bridge (FOB) will ensure better platform connectivity, while two lifts and two escalators will ease movement for passengers, especially for the elderly and Divyangjan (persons with disabilities). The circulating area on both sides of the station will be revamped to improve traffic flow and beautification, complemented by the creation of garden spaces on both sides and the installation of new high-mast lighting for enhanced visibility and safety. The facade and elevation will be upgraded with modern lighting installations, ensuring a vibrant and well-lit environment.

Interior improvements are a top priority, with the renovation of waiting halls, including the Upper Class Waiting Hall, the Waiting Room, and ticket counters. The provision of high-quality durable furniture will further enhance passenger comfort. New standard signage will be installed across the station to improve accessibility and navigation. Cooling drinking water facilities, Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVM), and an expanded parking area will be introduced, ensuring a more convenient and pleasant passenger experience.

Additionally, a new entrance gate on the south side will be constructed, while the north-side entrance will be redeveloped for better access. Circulating area work has been completed, providing better parking spaces for cars. With these changes, Simultala Station will offer a more modern and functional transit hub.

This modernization initiative is part of Indian Railways’ broader commitment to improving passenger experience and operational efficiency. Upon completion, Simultala Station will provide a more accessible, comfortable, and aesthetically appealing travel experience, contributing to the overall development of the region. The redevelopment is also expected to significantly boost local tourism and the economy, drawing more visitors and supporting the transit needs of the surrounding communities.

Simultala Station is amongst the fifteen stations under Asansol Division to get a facelift under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme of Indian Railways.
