LATEST NEWS : LIGHT SHOW IN THE CITY EXTENDED TILL JANUARY 8 IN VIEW OF STATE SCHOOL YOUTH FESTIVAL , FLOWER SHOW CONCLUDES

The ongoing light show as part of ‘Vasantholsavam’ organised by Tourism Department at Kanakakkunnu Palace has been extended till January 8 in view of State School Youth Festival.

However, the flower show concluded on Friday.

The decision to extend the light show was made under the directions from Tourism Minister Mr. P A Mohamed Riyas considering the huge flow of students and teachers from other districts for the State School Youth Festival in the capital city during January 4-8.

The 10-day flower and light festival Vasantholsavam which commenced on Christmas Day offered spectacular visual treat to visitors during the Christmas-New Year holidays.

Around three lakh people visited Vasantholsavam in ten days. Apart from the residents of the city and suburbs, large number of domestic and foreign tourists who were in the state capital during the Christmas-New Year holidays also enjoyed the annual show.

As part of the light show, a stellar installation welcoming New Year is on display. The pathways, trees and Kanakakkunnu Palace walls are also decorated with attractive lights. A huge illuminated globe, European street resembling London Christmas lights, illuminated installations of Cinderella, polar bear, dinosaur etc are other major attractions of the light show.

‘Vasantholsavam’ was organised by Tourism Department in association with District Tourism Promotion Council.
