A major milestone in the region’s infrastructure is the Nashipur Rail Bridge. This 315-meter-long open web girder-type railway bridge, spanning three sections across the Bhagirathi River, now connects the Murshidabad-Azimganj section. For years, this vital project has been a long-standing demand of the people, and today, it stands as a symbol of progress and unity, reducing travel time and boosting both passenger and freight services across the river.

The Nashipur Rail Bridge significantly enhances connectivity between Murshidabad and Azimganj, acting as a crucial link across the Bhagirathi River. This bridge reduces travel time, facilitates easier access to markets, and boosts trade in the region. It also opens up new routes for passenger and freight services, ensuring economic growth and development for the entire region.

As a direct outcome of this infrastructure upgrade, new train services between Azimganj and Cossimbazar (via Murshidabad) and Krishnanagar & Azimganj (via Murshidabad) will be flagged off tomorrow. The Hon’ble Minister of Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & Information Technology, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, will officiate the ceremony via video conference at 12:00 hrs.
