RAILWAYS : REDEVELOPMENT WORK IN FULL SWING AT DEOGHAR RAILWAY STATION UNDER AMRIT BHARAT SCHEME

As part of the transformative Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the redevelopment and modernization of Deoghar Railway Station are progressing at an impressive pace. The scheme, aimed at enhancing passenger experience and overall infrastructure, focuses on a comprehensive upgrade of 1275 stations across the Indian Railways network.

*Key Highlights of the ongoing phase one project is as follows:-*

Total Cost of Phase 1 Work: ₹18 crore

Physical Progress: 30%

Financial Progress: 18%

*Commercial Development Strategy:*

In line with the Amrit Bharat Scheme’s objectives, Deoghar Railway Station is set to witness commercial development, covering 3908 sqm in station buildings, concourse, platforms, and circulating areas. The anticipated revenue potential is ₹144.4 lakh per annum.

*Enhanced Station Amenities:*

The redevelopment work at Deoghar includes improvements in station access, circulating areas, waiting halls, toilets, lift/escalators, cleanliness, free Wi-Fi, and the introduction of local product kiosks through initiatives like ‘One Station One Product.’ The holistic approach also incorporates features like Executive Lounges, designated spaces for business meetings, landscaping, and better passenger information systems.

*City Integration and Sustainability:*

The scheme emphasizes the integration of the station with both sides of the city, multimodal connectivity, and amenities for Divyangjans, and sustainable, environment-friendly solutions. It envisions the creation of city centres at stations in the long term.

*Future Phases:*

The ongoing phase involves the construction of a new station building, improvement of traffic circulation, beautification of circulating areas, and enhancements to the facade and interiors. Future plans include the provision of escalators, a wide foot over bridge (FOB), and additional amenities.

Shri Kausik Mitra Chief Public Relations Officer, Eastern Railway stated “The redevelopment work aligns with the historical and religious significance of Deoghar, also known as Baidyanath Dham, making it a pivotal pilgrimage site. The project is a testament to the government’s commitment to providing world-class facilities and improving the overall travel experience for passengers.”
